Seedy Poet

Contributed by Man_On_High on Monday, 27th February 2006 @ 02:11:58 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Behold the staunch and seedy poet
though his lines don't always show it
enduring with white-knuckled tenacity
the trials of his mental incapacity
the heartbreak of some lotus jade
practitioner of the poetical trade
striving to make his chronicles heard
above the hissing of the absurd
viewing the masses with sardonic smile
incarcerated inner self-exile
bidding fond adieu to passers by
with cold satyrical and bloodshot eye
a daily battle with thymal life
trying in vain to forget the pain and strife
no aesthetic energies to spend and burn
wincing at Fate's every barbaric turn
haunted incandescent and scholarly take
on the rustic lore of Edgar A. POE and Blake
steeped in the broth of demonic wills
in quest of some metaphysical thrills
indomitable intrepid wordsmith
living in secret beloved myth
that alone makes his life endurable
and his sanity almost insurable
blithe and trite blissfully unheeding
hunched over a keyboard his heart begins bleeding
onto the screen with the latest ode and sonnet
pinning his transcending soul upon it
downing amber all night till morning
screaming shrill octaves without warning-
though the world and he may never know it
he's every inch a seedy poet
as in clouds of fancy all alone
hugging a soul he thought was his own.

B.

Holy Moly man...you continue to blow me away with these awesome writes. I love much about this write....but at the end....I was feeling really good....

hunched over a keyboard his heart begins bleeding
onto the screen with the latest ode and sonnet
pinning his transcending soul upon it
downing amber all night till morning
screaming shrill octaves without warning-
though the world and he may never know it
he's every inch a seedy poet
as in clouds of fancy all alone
hugging a soul he thought was his own.

WONDERFUL. Peace, Laura

Men and women are much the same. A man may stay up all night drinking and lamenting the end of a relationship while a woman may stay up all night crying and lamenting the end of a relationship. However, beware of pity for oneself because it can bring about ominous consequences. In my opinion, a life without passion, whether it is for a person or doing something you love, is a life not lived. A person or lack thereof cannot make one put their dreams and aspirations aside. Your poem is haunting and well written.

writing words ... thoughts, life.. true, untrue.. words.. we write.. we share our soul.. what we assume.. our expressions are ours to keep.. our interests just may be instructions to others.. poets write, readers read.. once read.. becomes theirs.. are we hugging a muse or is the muse hugging us.. pray for one more day to hunch over white paper.. to receive and to give away..

Oh God! How I relate to those two lines especially! This piece is so
freakin' powerful Billy!! I read it through and then again and again at
full speed. Bloody brilliant !!

One could pull much from this, (all melancholies aside), but I am
slightly comforted in the thoughts portrayed here. Almost akin to
them, as it were. Deep, dark and definitely profound write. I leave
with much respect and appreciation, for in your inner workings, I
find my own inspiration at times . . . humbly, I thank you for that.

The wordmaster. Damn, but you do amaze even the "never or seldom amazed".

my two favorite lines:
"steeped in the broth of demonic wills
in quest of some metaphysical thrills"

as i've taken this quest many times.

As some do say they are left in "awe"...
Seems the depth is overwhelming, and trying to find
Use what you have......Talent and so much inner its p ouring over.
YOU, never cease to amaze me and many others. The write penned here is over powering ... has so much to hear, yet... Well just amazing, and beautiful deep thinking.
