Lost in the Woods (it's a good thing)

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Sunday, 26th February 2006 @ 12:43:05 AM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

Carry me away
on a magic carpet ride
Take me to a far off place
plenty of shadows
in which a troubled soul
can hide

Get me deep
deep in the woods
amongst my most fashionable friends
Elm, Oak and Maple
No matter what season
your look is always IN!

Smell of green grass
moss and dew
scents of the forest
eagerly inhaled
I suddenly feel
refreshed, renewed

Wild mushrooms all around
pinecones fallen
Rocks and roots protrude
on my path
I hear the birds oft
in the distance calling

Sweet sound
of water gurgling
from the tiny waterway
reflections of my face
in crystal waters...play

At peace here
lost in this ethereal world
cannot hear man-made sound
only nature calls
unfurl

I'm with Jarred . . . tree hugging is so in this year! lol

Seriously, Laura, this was beautifully descriptive. Took me
back to when I was young and running through the woods
with my siblings and friends. It is truly a glorious place to
find yourself, and you have captured it in a stunning array of
picturesque imagery.

I really loved this one.

hippynurse

I love this write living here in Michigan I often walk my dog in the woods and nature tends to fill one with inner peace.
"Be silent and listen"
no words can be a powerful prayer.

I remember walking in the woods once near my home.

I sat on a low stone wall and watched a tiny bird hopping along the hedgerows.

As I watched I was inspired to write a poem about him where I sat.

About an hour later I needed to have a ****

I couldn't find a leaf big enough to wipe with so I used my poetic classic as toilet paper!

I kid you not!

Seriously though Doris this is a beautiful write it took me to a place I'd rather be right now.

J.

That was very nice. I look to nature for serenity and reflection. I have my special places where I escape it all. I could see everything you described as I was reading. I felt calm and peaceful, as if in my hideaways.
