Look, there, into the black.
My dark mistress, she comes.
Ah, how I love her,
But [-], do I hate her.
Every night she visits.
I fear and welcome her presence.
How elegant is her lovely, elegant skin,
The small thumbnail of moon shining off of it.
She calls for me, for she knows me,
Loves to torment my already tortured soul.
I must accept her dark contemplations,
For there is to be no alley allowed for escape.
I dare not to speak of her name,
For if I let my tongue talk of it, she would hesitate not to destroy me.
But destroy me she will anyway,
And being so decided, I must raise my gun.
Oh, she draws nearer still,
Growing more dark, more beautiful, more frightening.
I must stop this beautiful monster's destruction.
My Colt .45 is aimed at the heart of her.
And now you shall be made known
Of her beautiful, deadly name,
For even as the bullet travels into my skull, I realize she,
This demon called DEPRESSION, has destroyed me.

it's depressing to see this poem has no comments. i really like the wording and telling of the story. thats what most poems are though, right? stories fantasized, real, soon to come or past. all connect to our minds in some way. this one definitely made some connections in mine. i also liked how you brave the stereotype ocean of poetry and use the word 'mistress' instead of lover or boy/girfriend. all in all, keep it up, i loved it. |
