I Thought of You

I heard the whisper of a dream from inner space -
and thought of you.
I felt the breeze's wanton fingers on my face -
and thought of you.
I smelled the essence of a rose mixed with decay -
and thought of you.
I saw a car-crushed kitten rotting where it lay -
and thought of you.
But I must taste again life's heady, healing wine -
and no more you.
