Revenge on a dragon

Contributed by RandyMan on Monday, 20th February 2006 @ 05:40:01 PM in AEST
Topic: fantasy

I exit the lush green forest
And climb a hill so steep
As I enter an open field
The horizon my eyes do seek
But there in front of me, a dragon
As my knees start to go weak

Large as life with such sharp teeth
From his nostrils smoke does climb
To stand still or run or even hide
These things do swirl in my mind
Should I think to stand and fight
No courage for this can I find

The dragon lumbers over
Alas he starts to eat
He takes me down in one bite
To him I taste so sweet
Had I only started to run away
Why couldn’t I move my feet

I was left to fertilize a field
In a pile of dragon dung
That did grow the grass so green
And eaten by a rabbit so large and young
Which became a hearty meal one night
For a brave knight, his story yet unsung

Mounted upon his mighty steed
Fearing nothing could go wrong
The knight searched for a dragon
Finding the beast would not take long
Shield on arm, and with his finest lance
Filled by rabbit stew, he felt oh so strong

There was a mighty battle that day
A battle that shall become lore
They fought for hours on end
And then they fought some more
It ended with a mighty knight
Covered in dragon gore

The knight had the strength to win
Because he ate a rabbit don’t you see
Which ate the grass fertilized by a dragon
That then grew so long and free
So if that dragon died that day
It’s all because of me

The moral of the story
I swear this is the end
If a dragon tries to eat you
Fear not, you just might get revenge
