To ask or not to ask

Grief

Dark raven, misunderstood.
Child of light, under the lanternhood.
None of those, really understood,
What he wanted.
They wondered all the time, but didn't ask.
They didn't know how far, weren't up for the task.
But they kept going, kept holding the mask.
They planned for the future..
They knew what they had to do.
They knew the pain was for them too.
They knew, but in the end, could they really do?
That which is sacred, was to him just a curse?
Or was it all really fake?
Did he think, it was his for the take?
Was the plan all the time them both to break?
Did he even tell the truth?
...
Then they turned around, and asked him why.
No response, no reaction but a silent cry.
A cry that soared into the nighten sky,
drove his sanity away, it just had to fly.
It seemed that he didn't lie.
