Why the Sea?

Because all the waves, currents, the constant motion
Like poetry, hold so much, so many things
But it really means only one thing
It means peace
All I see is his surface
Maybe that’s why he seems so peaceful
I cannot see his inner thoughts
His pain
At times he lets his anger loose
And ships are turned, lives destroyed
As people die and cities drown
I see what peace can do
When held too long…

Very nice piece of work. I thought of Poseidon's anger when I read this. I think you touched on something magical with the comparison of the sea to poetry. They do "hold so much." As advanced as man becomes, he will never control the forces of nature. Great read!

*grins at you*
I like this. I like how it goes up and down, in waves, if you will.
I like the message at the end. Those last few lines are so true. Peace can be one of the most turbulent things...
Great write my friend.
*hugs tons*

I can understand that.
I think this is more like a thought than a poem an analogy on life and why you should have a close friend to talk to when times get rough. Yes it is hard to be like the sea. Great write!! |

Interesting, interesting. I like those last lines.
No punctuation? That's a bit different. I think "currents, the constant motion" might need to be either "the currents...." or else "currents, constant motion". make both those parts symmetrical.

I find the sea totally mesmorizing.
When I was a kid on holiday my dad would take us to the fish and chip shop in the evening,
and we'd sit and watch the tide roll in.
I was always fascinated by the lights from the harbour reflecting on the water.
Thanks for helping my mind to resurface great memories.
Great poem.

Holy moly, I wasn't expecting an ending like that. (The whole thing caught me by surprise, really, as I'm a fan of the ocean, but at the same time I have an slight fear of open water.) But anyways, I really enjoyed this one. It has such a serene feel to it, and the thoughts, feelings, and emotions evoked by the ocean are more than visible in this write. Well done. |

Such beauty with your write
The sea, its a calming thing for myself
I wished I lived closer
I have a fantasy write on the sea(ocean) its not a bad one , kinda seductive in a way.......Just something whiich would release the bad, and let new in. Loved it

Some things just can not be explained.
The sea is something very powerful, amazing, and I can only imagine the peacefulness.
I like the way you compared the sea to poetry.
Thank you,
