I fan the flames with a hopeless deed
To prevent the death of a weary heart
The darkest spirit of dread I feed
For fear that life’ll be torn apart
A gaping void of time and space
Appears to stretch eternally
I pray to God to help erase
This loneliness and leave me be
Words and rhyme can do no more
To help resolve a feel so cold
This pain of loss do I abhor
I’d end if all if I were bold
The pain of a blow would be welcome respite
To save me from this ne’er ending night
