The fairy sat there by the stream
As if lost in a trance or a dream
Her beauty was bright, even brighter than the fire
On that cloudy night as she played her lyre
Contently she sat, but she wasn't alone
An old wise elf sat across from her on a stone
Happily lighting a pipe full of Elven magical smoke
He politely asked her if she wanted a toke
She accepted the pipe with a gleam in her eye
With just one toke and her spirit would fly
Her mind now clear, her spirit was free
It opened her eyes, and now she could see
The Hobbits, Dwarves, Dragons, and old wise King
Sat quietly waiting for the fairy to sing
She sang a song they knew quite well
About a wizard and his evil spell
As the music flowed from her lips it engulfed them all
Then the song changed as she gazed into her crystal ball
She sang about the tree's and how they grew so tall
Then the man child came and destroyed them all
He built factories, freeways, a steel and concrete jungle
Not knowing that someday, it would all tumble
The new age had come, nuclear reactors were here
So much hatred, and so much fear
Radiation has killed the man child now
Mother nature is free and running wild
The song was sad and yet so true
The skies were black no longer blue
As a tear fell from the fairy's eye
She sat like the rest waiting to die
With such sadness their hearts did fill
A man childs village is being built, just over the hill

I don't believe it has been destroyed, for I see goodness and miracles everyday. I think it has just gone 'underground' so man cannot do any more harm. Man may destroy reality on terra firma, but he can never touch the magic of souls. Great write.

Hey, good stuff. I agree with you that the magic in the world is being overshadowed by industry. |

This is such a strong, emotional write. In many ways, it is too true. Well penned. *S* Cynthia |
