Brown Eyed Boy

Contributed by Caged Soul on Monday, 13th February 2006 @ 01:44:34 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Lost in a whirlpool of who-being & self-pleasing,
confused & consumed by this winding road of
no finding, progress hindering & destiny obscuring.
Knowing something is wrong, for long it has been so, yet
an endeavour of mental liberation
is way too hard to envision.

Satisfied with his being, content with what he is seeing,
looking in the mirror- he stares in the eyes of a little boy,
locked in his room without no toy.
In the brown of his eyes he can see his sky-
its darkening as he desperately tries to hide
his true identity through
flimsy facades & broken barricades.
His masquerading soul is battered
from daily self wars
and bruised
from sacrifices for the cause.

He is on his last leg; he knows he can’t win this battle.
He knows in time he will crack
since his aching back is bending
& buckling under the weight.
No longer can he wait & procrastinate
& leave his destiny up to fate.
He finally comes to the realisation that
he must change.

So one day, he began his journey…

He crawls through scenarios-
dense as the Amazon.
He try’s out different versions, trying to find the right one.
Like J.Lo does bf hoping, he goes plan browsing,
A, B, all the way to Z, he try’s them all,
hoping at least one will fit just right
and make his life real tight, bring into sight
destinies manifestations, manifested by reconciliation
& time invested, patience in open-mindedness encrusted.
As he scrolls down the list, it seems endless,
he’s left breathless halfway through,
yet still he don’t know what to do- no,
that aint true, just don’t know how to,
at least not yet.

But until such time his biggest crime
would be to give up, sigh, stop playing this game
and admit defeat,
through the grace of God, discouragement
soon will lay at his feet as he will
usher in the new him,
stepping out of the shadow of that lonely tree
and for the first time in 20 years, breathe.

Hi guys, thanks for reading my poem.

As you can see, it doest have a proper title yet. I was sitting with it the whole weekend trying to find one, but with no success.
If you can come up with something suitable, I would really appretiate it.

Ashley

Wow, this is really good work. Even without a proper title, it is very deep and meaningful. I really enjoyed this.

Please consider some of my poems, if you have time. Thank you
