Beauty lies sleeping
Under a swaying willow
Dragonflies in a dance of love
Eternally skimming and flowing and sweeping
She opens her eyes
Dark and dusky like the twilight
And she watches in wonder
The hypnotic dance of the dragonflies
They draw her gaze to the hill
Atop the crest there stands a man
He wears the colour of the rustling leaves
Although he is stands so still
Lithe and slender as a reed
With perfect grace she rises
And in delicate skipping steps
She follows the dragonfly’s lead
He meets her at the stream
A subtle, meandering flow
The forest man who comes from daylight
To the wood nymph of Twilight’s dream
In the shadows of sunset
Before the final glow of sun
Two figures melt together
And become one in silhouette
