Muse

Contributed by Man_On_High on Tuesday, 7th February 2006 @ 01:31:31 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Is my muse.. my love?
Idealistic in it's plight, blundering blind
through delicate stems of themes-
leaving a gory mess of images
in it's plundering wilful wake?

Maddend by muderous interior thought,
it ravages sunsets captured once by.. Poe-
...smearing dark slivers of blood
across an indiscernible moon.

A swan, serene in majesty
upon evening waters, recoils from it in panic;
and singing birds, at it's approach,
drop like stones down the cerise sky.

A thing of remorseless gluttony..
of immense, invincible apathy, is my muse.

Yet it sang once in a rare moment:

a small indomitable sound...
escaping from twisted strings and warped woods..
and somehow after that,
I could almost love the grotesque creature..

as somtimes one can come to love the misbegotten.

*shudders at images*

Well, dearest Billy. It would seem you have a flare for many a genre. The imagery you have
conjured here is very disquieting, although I find it an amazingly astute composition.

I hope your muse does sing once more, for your writes are ever inspiring and I know of
the beauty within your soul. When she touches that and whispers in your ear, we
will again be blessed with a write so daringly lovely that all the world will be stilled by it.

Always captivated. And humbled am I. In everything , all encompassed, I hear you.

-- I love this! . . . But, especially . . .

Ever enchanted,

My!

Yet it sang once in a rare moment:

The entire piece is incredibly potent... but that line... that, and everything that followed it... pummeled me. I truly don't want to sound as if I'm discounting and/or setting aside all that came before those words... but it seems to me that the beginning and middle of this piece was... well... was a 'working-up-to' that powerful ending. It feels, at least to this reader, that a decision (a personal, artistic and brave decision) was made when the above line was scribed. And then... precisely then... having opened the door for it, the what-needed-saying stepped through.

Just... wow.

a funny thing, muses are. constantly changing form..from virtuous to dreadful, and back again.
i loved this write...for so long i've searched to discover who (or what?!?) my muse is...have i found it? perhaps...one thing for sure; i want stop looking.

once again...i'm honored to read such a wonderful piece.

hang onto that rare moment.. appreciate that golden sound of love.. just like the reminder of Ennio Morricone who was a musical genius.. everything he touched was gold.. his muse...probably love of other composers works that he admired.. Much like I do your work, you may be my muse today..
