Love Birds

Every morning we'd hold hands
Sit by the window and watch the birds
Sipping on coffee to rid the sleepyness
Listening to the same familiar chirps
Two love birds, everyday, same time
Would sit on the branch closest to the window
We'd watch them for hours
But they mave have come to watch us too
Years have passed, as have the birds
We haven't a clue as to why they've gone
But years after their last visit
My one and only true love has also passed on
The doctors have no clue of what happened
She died in the night without a sign
I woke up that morning
With her peaceful hand still in mine
Now, out there on that tree
The love birds return to their branch
They looked at me, then for my partner
But in their eyes they know she won't be back
One flew away after my love was gone
No longer the two of us, or two birds
Although one of them still visits me
The one my late true love called hers
