The Down Side

Contributed by Drapes on Sunday, 5th February 2006 @ 02:56:53 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

You'd be my lifejacket in a bottomless ocean,
But I'm afraid
I'd be your anchor.

You'd give me two wings if I was falling,
But I'm afraid
I could only spare you one.

You'd make me out to be the goddess of all,
But I'm afraid
You wouldn't be more than the Average Joe to me.

You're that two layered box of dark chocolate filled with creamy caramel and truffle,
But I'm afraid
I'm a half empty box of light chocolate loaded with nuts.

You'd take me to the top of Mt. Everest if I asked,
But I'm afraid
I could only take you up a hill.

You'd be the star out on the field,
But I'm afraid
I'd rain on you game.

You're the sun that will end my storm,
But I'm afraid
I'll be the black clouds that still linger in the destance.

You'd be my life support,
But I'm afraid
I'd be the disease.

You'd give me your full attention,
But I'm afraid
Only half my mind would be on you.

You're a little more than a friend,
But I'm afraid
'Little' is an exaggeration.

I want to be friends,
But I'm afraid
You want more.

You have no doubt,
But I'm afraid
To take a chance.
I don't want to hurt you.
I don't want you to hurt me.

I want to be your friend forever,
But I'm afraid
Either way I'm going to lose you.

Well I must say, I did chuckle until I got to the end of this poem.. I was wondering where it was going.. I guess I may have to go back up to the top to chuckle some more, for I am afraid, if I don't I might just get into a crying jag. raquel leah.. great poem.. 5 stars

Aren't we all so afraid...at one point in our lives or another. Exquisite write. Have faith in yourself. I wish you peace, Laura
