Don't Think

Don't talk to me
About the strength of the economy
Don't lecture me about supply and demand
When gasoline is three twenty
And my cereal is a generic blend
Don't go on assuming
That because you think, business is booming
Life is better now then four years ago
When bankruptcy is looming
Expenses are rising and income reached a plateau
Don't bend my ear
Telling me that I have nothing to fear
That things will be better tomorrow
When life is austere
And to keep things together I have to beg and borrow
Don't think
That because my clothes are plain and I stink of drink
I don't know what you are doing
Behind closed doors a handshake and a wink
Has tripled my cost of refueling
