Walking Away

I remember the times...
When his face made me happy,
When I was eager to give, love,
Satisfy him. An irrational portion of
My soul seemed to have taken up residence,
And controlled all my actions.
My mind wasn't my own.
This portion shattered when i
Finally saw the truth...
Took a while to stand again,
To believe in good, to hope.
But in the end...the rain dried up and the
Darkness passed.
I found entrance and acceptance.
In myself.
I got through it retaining my optimism for life.
I walked passed my past,
walked by the memories;
good and bad.
To reach the place of quiet.
Quiet hope...and relief.
My mind, my spirit, my soul
Free of the Dark.
All the self-hate flowed out.
The morning light, streaming in...
Leaving me more alive.
I've found my peace
And it SHALL remain protected
And unshatterable, free of sorrow.
Forever.
