Of Poets & Fire

Contributed by Silent-No-More on Thursday, 2nd February 2006 @ 09:55:48 PM in AEST
Topic: poets

We were never meant to be monotone
Never intended for shapelessness, obscurity
We are mirror watchers, birds of prey
Raging, the way a river will after a storm
Rambling down the very same path that they did
With a carelessness that was born of need
Seeking to capture a wisdom that can be ours alone
No, we were never meant to be monotone!

We will set the world aflame with our words
And watch as mundane matters fall to ash
We’ll see ourselves in one another's eyes, wild
And wanting, scared and knowing, and - free
We were intended, birthed, to be as lightning
Brave and erratic, dangerous in our own simplicity
As we split the sky and personify the thunder, heard
Yes, as we set the world aflame with our words!

We’ll dance with wild abandon through the night
Moving to the rhythm of the fire as it flickers
Crying out, bleeding out, sending ourselves out
Into the unforgiving world that we’ve hidden from
Soaring into the vast purple blue of our twilight
Rejoicing then in the freedom of near insanity
And showing glimpses of ourselves as the sky alights
Oh! how wildly we will dance through the night!

Yes, we were meant... for this.

OMG, Snemmers!!! Thank goodness for inspiration, lightning bolts, old writes, Maria, & you because this truly is inspirational. You have such a wonderful & spellbinding way of wording the truth. You have given a compliment to everyone that surpasses words, yet...yet...the words are there I see them. Amazing.

I already told you earlier you made my day and now you've have succeeded in doing so again.

Thank you.

Tim

A truely excellent write! We never meant to be monotone, and that is again an expression of a true poet. The blood of a revolution flows within this poem, and I can not sit still and not applaud passion. I loved it!

I am awed and humbled by the caliber and potency of this creation. This poem is a work of art. Quite frankly, I don't think anyone surpasses your talent. I wish I could write like that!

Masterfully crafted, Snemmy

Excelent! Poetry at it's best. The third stanza stands out to me most.
I'll have to come back and read it again.
Take care.

First...
Forgive me my tardiness snemmy-

You set the stage..in the 1st stanza:
"Seeking to capture a wisdom that can be ours alone"

...and personify in the 2nd with:
"Brave and erratic, dangerous in our own "simplicity"

In closing..you travel on into the improbable future with such confidence in the 1st and final lines of stanza 3:

"We’ll dance with wild abandon through the night"
and...
"Rejoicing then in the freedom of near insanity"

Your poem has a feel of some great myth..
It's bloody fantastic!!

Sincerely..

Billy

Definately one of your best!
What inspires me most about this piece is the way it makes ME feel, like one of a very special breed....poets.
We are truely set apart, in both our strangeness and our simplicity.
I live and breathe fire when I read this.
Thank you for making me feel so special, me and a whole wonderful breed apart!!!

I cannot tell you how suprised I was to see Jarred's comment on this.

I tell you something now Chris, I couldn't write like this. I never have been able to, and I will never love my words as much as I love yours, and Jarred's and...everyones.

I couldn't compare.

The first stanza of this is marvelous! I love how you use the first and last lines of each stanza, through the whole of the poem, and it caught me from the first line and I had to read the lot, and hearing it too, it was just wonderful. You read just as I would expect you to.

That last line is just fantastic. It really ends the poem wonderfully.

Great write, my friend.
*hugs tons*
