Evening thoughts

Contributed by wrn on Monday, 27th January 2003 @ 01:00:00 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

My head upon the pillow,
My days last thoughts fade,
And my Lady is on my mind,
A good friend I have made.

But it's not her tender kiss,
or the warmth of her embrace,
I drift to peaceful slumber,
while thinking of her face.

In a moment of sublime trust,
I opened up my heart,
And shared with her my beast,
that about tore me apart.

She did not dismiss me,
Or order me to go,
Instead, she shared with me
what she wanted me to know.

Tales of her childhood,
Of abuse and neglect,
That she can still love,
Demands even more respect.

This special moment,
That I voiced my desire,
and she knowingly nodded,
As I walked the wire.

Many others talk to her,
And enjoy her wit and charm,
but of these, I alone
Shelter her with my arm.

When we are together,
And into her eyes I peek,
And see a wonderful soul,
It makes my knees go weak.

And so, again tonight,
When under quilt and sheet,
I'll be dreaming of her face,
Untill again we meet.

Opening up to someone like that can do one of two things..it can rip a friendship apart or make it grow....The ones that grow are the lucky ones because they seem to last forever...this is beautiful :)

this is the purest, warmest expression of love i have yet to read, i recognise that there is a certain experience of life, that only advancing years can bring, at play here and it makes me look forward to getting older, this is a treasure of a poem, i hope you showed it to her
