Joy Berry

Contributed by Man_On_High on Sunday, 29th January 2006 @ 07:31:32 AM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

When you and I were there and all the world
was a joy.. a berry crushed between our lips-
your breast - lifting arms stretched to the night
dark wings of hair over your eyes
and upon us the lovely lassitude of love.

With fingers fast-joined we held the universe in..
laughing high and free, swimming in the dark-
winter brisk and warm upon our quicksilver tongues...
wild in the days of our needing-
wanton . . . the dark rush of life in us
hectic in the plunging of our blood.

And you and I were there.. and all the world.

Now you are gone .. the joy berry of the world.
Attainment now, a hard thing held in the palm
gone.. the brilliant foolish talk.. the singing vein
surging to its final and frantic victory.

Love now is a clean - cut conception.. a logical aftermath;
solid.. and as stoic as a bad dream in a fleeting moment-
passion now.. a covenant.. an indulgence, a sophisticated exercise.

You are here still new and yet.. no longer a challenge
nor discovery or ever-changing sky.
The 'you' that was within, is gone and so am I;

and we smile and close our eyes.. and are polite.

There are no new things in our world now
to dare and bedevil us into flights of folly-

...only placid, satisfied faces, snow covered lawns, bookshelves,
monitors, punctual cocktails and skies with nothing in them...
(blue, vast and as empty as those of an idiot.)

Awww Billy...this is such a beautiful write... sad but so well written.....

Boy..can I ever identify with this--->

"You are here still new and yet.. no longer a challenge
nor discovery or ever-changing sky.
The 'you' that was within, is gone and so am I;

and we smile and close our eyes.. and are polite."

Take care..
Jenni

hey bro,

i know i read this a while back via an email, but i like it even more now.

i can definitely relate to this, as a love remembered (or lost) is truly a topic which I've explored.

your opening line "Love is ... as sweet as you want it to be" sums it all up.

great write.

always,

wiz

I liked the transitions, and the separation of thoughts.

Your poem moved me very much. When love withers life does become mundane and sometimes sad. I found it very interesting to read and feel these emotions through a man's insight.

Wow. Can I tell you this is beautiful, even though it is quite and utterly
forlorn? Damn, Billly, but you DO have such a way with words. (How prosaic
that must sound, I know, but I have not the patience to seek out
more suitable adjectives at the moment). I hope it will suffice it to say
that I wish never to be prevented from reading such amazing creations
as this again. You do an injustice to me, kind sir to keep your brilliance
hidden. This is just the type of thing I could read for hours upon end
and never bore or tire of it. Every read brings about a new thought. A
new sensation. This is wonderful Billy. True poetry, at it's very best.

*ties you to a chair to prevent you from ever leaving again!* lol
