A Musing Pt. 2

Contributed by Dying_angel on Saturday, 28th January 2006 @ 07:12:58 AM in AEST
Topic: surreal

Part Two
The Amygdala is one of the key parts of your Limbic System in your brain. The Amygdala controls and stimulates such feelings as anxiety, autism, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, phobias and schizophrenia.
You flinched then. I saw it. Too close to the bone? Or are you waiting for me to slip up, so you can correct me with your extensive knowledge of personality disorders? Because face it, that’s all you do. In your unhinged reality nothings really wrong. But inside your mind, a mind that you don’t even understand, rages a complex mass of broken personality.
This is your life.
You sit and stare into the darkened glass, grey-brown in the halflight, almost willing it to share secrets of past visitors, to share it’s history with a mutual stranger. What you fail to realise is it is, if only you’d listen harder, then you’d hear it.
Just Listen.
Tap. Now you listen. Tap. Like the beat of lived in heart it carried on. Constant. Casual. Predictable. Sane. Tap.
Just Listen.
Rain. Torents. What does it matter if you can’t actually feel them? Light. Shafts. What does it matter if you can’t actually see them? Cold. Bitter. What does it matter if you can’t actually taste them? Because, honestly, would it matter to you if you weren’t apart of it?
Would it?
Now you’re gone. That’s it. It was surreal. Now it’s just irrelevant. You’re lost. But wait. You haven’t even started thinking yet, have you? I’m questioning you further and further. You’re just hanging on until I hit where it hurts you most. You’re waiting for me to intrude too far. Because face it, you don’t even know what hurts anymore. You’re waiting for me to show you, tell you, confront you. Now you think. Now you remember…

…What Hurts.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
