Do You Care

Contributed by Petznick on Wednesday, 25th January 2006 @ 02:00:35 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

There’s a cat on my lap
And it does not belong to me
It’s an unusual circumstance
As you can plainly see

The cat was here
The day I moved in
And will yet remain
Long after I leave

But for the time being
It has accepted me
As one of the family
As a resident in its home

And next year
More will follow
Invading the cat’s home
And seeking acceptance

I think we should take a lesson
From this complacent feline
If only our tolerance
Could equal that of this animal

The cat can accept anyone
Because it asks for so little in return
It has no greed, lust, or material possessions
It only wants to be cared for

I Only Want To Be Cared For
