All About You

Contributed by MMISS on Tuesday, 24th January 2006 @ 08:45:27 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

When Grandma passed away
I found a letter by her grave
No return address
And no name

Not sure if I should
But I have to read it through
To my surprise it was from someone I never knew
It was all about you

Old memories came back instantly
Back when it was just Mama and me
I was only three at the time
Mama begged you not to go
But you left anyway as you said goodbye
And then she cried

Oh at the tender age of thirteen
Mama died and Granny took me in
Taught me how to love someone I never knew
Yeah she told me all about you

Well I turned and saw you standing there
Six feet tall and light brown hair
The dimple on your chin looks just like mine

And as big as I am
You picked me up in your strong hands
I was in my daddys' arms for the first time
And then I cried
For someone I never knew
I just want to know all about you
