The rose for its sheer beauty utter prime
May weep for there would dire flare a day
When perspiration reeks and steps lax rhyme
With malice, Time directs his vicious play
As petals fall when descent they must fade
Mulish grit shall latch whilst muck seize and goal
Till frails even memoirs of crimson red
This be the value of life's solemn toll
As thy paint of thee's terse beauty
Each tragic brush a ragged doleful streak
To engrave features so as true to thee
Never had thy known such misery bleak
I pray pay thrice if He will so permit
So as to halt thy yearn, undo thee writ
