He was a lonely man
Kept to himself a closed door
Until he met her
Filled with life, love and so much more
She said she would stay
Until his spirit learned to fly
She would love him
But then she must die
Together they laughed
He learned to let go and play
To help others in need
They passed by on the way
Soon he believed in himself
And his spirit learned to soar
He held her in his arms
As she entered Heaven's door
His eyes saw but could it be true
Rising from her body a butterfly
Which hovered a moment
Than disappeared to the sky
He swore he would not revert
Back to what he had been
He would honor her love
And his own redemption win
He now lived life to the fullest
And each year on his anniversary
The same unique and beautiful butterfly
On the rosebush in the yard he did see
