Giving Birth To A Poem

Contributed by Willofree on Sunday, 22nd January 2006 @ 12:58:31 PM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

Premonition phase

Some early desire is triggered
Not yet conceptualized
Waiting in the pre-dawn to be recognized
So the idea may materialize

Conception phase

A mental orgasm is experienced
A wow and a flash of inspiration occurs
And an idea is consummated, monumental
A merging of the emotional and the mental

Pregnancy phase

Then the thinking, nurturing and pondering start
And the body swells to accomodate this part
One must digest and comprehend the concept
To make it to the next stage of development

Delivery phase

You begin to analyze and figure it out
Now the idea is finally coming out
Expressed by grunting, pain and contractions
A struggle to transfer conceptually to action

Birth phase

Finally the construct of an idea is formed
With a final tremendous push
The viable structure of an idea is born
And from an idea the birth of a poem is transformed

Terry, my friend, interesting comparison with childbirth. It did bring a smile to my face. The Conception Stage is my favorite. That is so right on.

Wonderful Terry. Peace to you, Laura

OMG! I never realised having a poem was so difficult! I once gave birth to one with just over a thousand words but I have a few that are a lot lighter in the word department!.

I loved the parallels here very cleverly crafted a well deserved 5 stars.

I think Terry, that were one to look back through your early writes ... and finish up here ... what they would discover is ... the birthing of a poet. I am continually impressed and curious what direction you will travel next. Something different ? Yes indeed ... and impressively so.
