Millie The Story of a Rescue Dog

Contributed by fishey on Sunday, 22nd January 2006 @ 09:03:22 AM in AEST
Topic: PetPoems

Alone, distraught, confused
In the middle of nowhere
Abandoned and abused
Dark, cold, rain.

Ravenous, desperate cries
The howl of the wind
Trembling fear, hopeless sighs
Broken limbs lay on the ground.

Oppression, rejection, heartache
Anguished waiting
Broken spirit, heartbreak
Disoriented, pacing in circles.

Beautiful essence, soft and meek
Pain felt within
Future so bleak
Victim of the cowards and malicious among us.

Hardened humanity, calloused heart
Man's best friend
Mistreated from the start
Broken teeth left behind.

Angelic symphony all around
No restful moments
To hear their sounds
Unfulfilled hope, shattered and torn.

Melodies of faith, vocalize days to come
God's loving touch
No need to be glum
The horizon is filled with compassionate safekeeping.

Darkened spirit, shivering thoughts
Heal your soul
That's what I sought
Heart to heart, we'll mend what broke along the way.

Inner beauty out shines
The hand that life has dealt
I knew deep within
I knew what I felt.

Our beautiful Millie, Christmas is here
We will warm you, my love
We will melt away your fear
Snowflakes falling.

Tears welling up, you seem so blue
Feel our love dear one
It is just for you
Let the layers of suffering fall away.

Heart felt love, harmony and joy
Wraps the debilitated soul
Bestowed to enjoy
Renew your spirit.

Warmth and understanding, stand the test of time
Darkness fades to memory
Hills, so hard to climb
Bask in your glow.

Slipping into sleepiness, relaxing into calm
Love is the answer
The only healing balm
Angels rejoicing.

Glimmers of hope, of who you are meant to be
Playful, smiling, buddy
That is what I see
God's loving creature, living moment to moment.

We feel blessed as you grace our life
A gift from God
No more strife
We are your family forever.

lovely poem and a wonderful thing to adopt a Rescue Dog...it brings tears to think of those who abuse out 4 legged friends...
