Firey Breath

My mind wanders,
As I sit here alone;
Hours without sleep,
Tired to the bone.
Staring into the fire,
I see life, not death,
For in the cumbustion,
Heat creates breath.
The sparks fly upward,
Seeking the sky,
Longing to be free,
But without heat, they die.
The smoldering embers,
So playfully ignorant,
Soon to be ashen,
To the very life they supplant.
And the dark sky, so wondrous,
Filled with heavenly stars,
Is so cold and dark,
Showing the fire's scars.
It shows where life and breath lead,
And what firey breath takes,
Leading to a cold lonley nothing,
My heart looks on and aches.

few misspelled words, but a good write. Liked the comparison to the fire. Peace to you, Laura |
