empty arms

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I hurriedly chased you in dream after dream

but catching you turns you to sand

leaving me skipping pebbles across an ocean of longing

the ripples encompassing without any sign of fading

once I leant in to kiss you and closed my eyes

but a slight breeze had carried you away

in the distance wavering like summer washing lines

my frail reflection waits

leaving a mute sadness longing to be heard

and for all its efforts dying

with the crashing symphony

of a million tiny raindrops

all screaming towards redemption

panic erupts, expelled outward in gratuitous flames

a heart held aloft in poets hands

akin to a violin with only one string

fearful of the promises of symphonic bliss

leaving beauty in its frailty

like butterfly wings to a childs eager grasp

no intent to destroy

but love cannot be built on best intentions

the harder you grasp

the sooner it slips away

leaving memories and longing

to exist only in dreams

where even then i cannot hold you forever

This was beautiful and i really mean that. I thought that it was well written and it flowed and everything about it made it so beautifully sad and it also filled me with that emotion you talked about when you just wanna hold someone in your arms forever. I had that chance and it was perfect but then it got away from me and it turned into the most beautiful disaster of my life.

take care

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
