The pieces that you are
Seem to be nothing more than scattered
Shards of glass
The pieces that you are
Cut and sting so
You cry and watch the clouds
You scream and claw the dirt
You watch the blood run
And wish to fade to black
You watch the blood run
And watch it turn to ash.
I cannot bear your pain
Nor can you
But somehow
You are living proof
That you are going to
They’ve nailed their rusty words into your palms
They’ve hoisted you atop a dead tree for all to mock
The blood runs down your arms
And into your eyes
You tears steam down and they
Spit and clench and yell
You exhale
And then without meaning to
Without realizing how to
Without desiring to
You inhale
The truth flows through your veins
And despite your longing to destroy
You won’t.
The truth surges through your delicate heart
And past your resilient muscles.
Your body is bruised and withered
But somehow you will prevail.
You were made for fighting.
You were created as the beauty that you are.
You were created for hope.
Your journey has just begun.
