Settle for Changes

Contributed by deadheadpoet on Tuesday, 17th January 2006 @ 11:31:34 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Getting myself settled here
feeling a little more at ease
was afraid at first, you know
I...
don't deal with with change
can become windswept
even in a breeze

What happened to the tough girl?
She used to be so free
now she's all locked away inside
deep inside of me

Always afraid of something
(I never understand the fears)
Each time there's a little tremor
my whole landscape becomes rearranged
and I don't deal very well, you see
no I don't take kindly
to the change

Maybe it's because I've
metamorphosed way too many times
Had to change
Had to recreate myself
In order to maintain a little
sanity...
In order to survive
I've grown so very tired
so very tired of the changes

Not trying to gain
any sympathy friend
Just feel the need
to explain the idiosyncrasies.... again
Call me crazy
Extremely nervous
......maybe a little off the wall
I'm a woman
I'm a person
joining others
who've risen
from a life with many falls

So when I look at you
with these big brown eyes
pupils dilated
eight millimeters, I'm sure
tears brimming
looking to you for guidance, my friend
I shant ask for anything more

I am parched from all this
thinking
How in the hell can one
have so many tangled thoughts
At least....I'm a little settled, now
Thinking though....

at what cost?

Penned January 2006
Laura Horner

not taking kindly to change....

as I've got older I've noticed I don't anymore, I work with autism and i'm always joking that i swear it's catching! I think as you get older you gradually become more routined a bit like a security blanket.

I really do enjoy the depth of your work it really shows when you put pen to paper/fingers to keys.

great write.

J
