My baby boy

Contributed by papaskins on Tuesday, 17th January 2006 @ 01:45:58 PM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

I hasten to life’s great demands
and leave my world behind thee.
Awakened from his peaceful sleep
he searches but can’t fine me.

His little feet, they walk the floor
a favorite toy in hand.
O’ how I wish to keep him small
and not become a man.

I miss so much when I’m away
my work, it chains and binds me.
I long to see him smile and play,
without him what would I be?

My day is done, it’s time to go
at home he’s waiting on me,
and with a leap to open arms
at last my son do I see.

Your love is very evident towards your little guy! Remember to cherish each moment you have with him as he will grow up too quickly before your eyes!

Great poem!

As the father of an 11 year old son, I really appreciate this poem! All the memories of him as a baby are treasures. I too wish I could just keep him that way forever. But I do look forward to his future too. It is a shame work "chains and binds" us the way it does -a necessary evil. Well done!

I really enjoyed your poem.It brought me back to when my girls were babies. I wish I would have worte down some of the little things they did that brought me so much joy because as years go by those memories seem to have faded.
