Daily I go about with a list on mundane things to do
I rush here and there, working hard, keeping this old life in view
Gotta make all of the ends meet and continue paying the bills
Keeping up with all the rising costs with or without all the thrills
Just to maintain - just to maintain and then fall into bed at night
There's no time for complications - just trying to keep from a fight
Friends don't exist and family life just isn't what it used to be
When any household details aren't done it must be completed by me
Where will it all end, when will my time be free
That's when the Lord speaks up - "How thirsty are we?"
What is that you are saying Lord, I'm just too busy to hear you
How will being thirsty and drinking help paying bills when they are due?
Again the Lord speaks up, "You who are weary come to me and I'll give you rest."
I'll give you that, Lord, I am tired - here's my tiredness and - yes - that rest would be best
Yet while resting, all the old guiltiness of things not being done rush in
I push myself up and make up that 'to do list' and from there begin
I feel I must get things done or the world and You, Lord, will think me lazy.
Again the whisper came, "Do not let your heart be troubled," can you see?
"My peace I give you" and all "These things (chores) will all pass away"
"My child, please just turn your eyes toward me and trust in me today!"
I guess all 'things' not done around me may not matter all that much
I know I need to let You be in control and release my clutch
That does not mean for me to dig a deeper debt-pit
But seek Your bidding in all things and learn to wait -- submit
Since You provide and care for the flowers and birds
How much more You care for all us fearing cowards
You say 'come' - Okay, Lord, I will come and rest
You say 'drink' - Okay, Lord I will drink Your best
You say 'Let go' - It's hard, but I will let go
You want control - I'm tired, so here's the control
May I just climb onto Your lap and rest and forget about things
"Yes, my child, I will carry you and shelter you under my wings"
"The world may shout that you're lazy and can't have rest,
But I promise you that you will receive my best!
My peace I give you and that peace the world doesn't understand
I will never forsake you or remove your name from my hand
I love you, my child, and that love no one can take away
So rest now, my child, and do not worry about today!"

Linda, this is ever so beautiful to read, thank you for your wisdom, to share us. You show your Love for Him and you are love. You probably have seen this inspirational card, I read your poem listening to its music. http://www.bellagreetings.com/1/card.php?ID=1135
