Nurses, who are they?
A life dedicated, to others not themselves,
Above and beyond, their duty comes first,
Patient care is the first priority,
We need them when we are ill,
Nurses come through with their care and listening ear,
Their service is pure,
Nurses watch patient take their last breath,
Holding the patient hand when families are not around,
Wiping unknown faces without being asked,
Giving medications to ease the patient pain,
Call light around the clock when medication is not on time,
Nurses are much more than we all think,
We take them for granted at times,
Families of the patient yelling at nurses,
Patient screaming with no apparent reason,
Doctors calling with several orders,
Nurses racing room to room accomplishing patient care,
Nurses surround humans everywhere,
At the hospital, school, clinic, medical office, workplace, war zone and hospice,
Nurses are in the ER, OR, MICU, SICU, CCU, ICU, MedSurg, Outpatient, and Inpatient,
When we are aging, sick, scared, somnolent, we turn to Nurses, and know they care,
Nurses care for infectious patients,
Their heartfelt dedication to unknown persons,
Have you ever wondered what if they contracted a disease?
What would be the world without nurses?
Appreciation is all is needed.

Having been in hospital many times for a chrinic illness I know only too well what we owe to the nursing staff of a hospital not to forget all the other people such as the men that bring the laundry and those that stoke the fires for the hot water and steam that is needed in hospital so many to say a big thankyou especially to the Doctors that work such long hours caring for the patients also the cleaning staff one must not forget. Great poem top marks from bernard2 |
