Never did make love to you
Unmet yearning to lie together side by side
As if private visions could achieve one single thing
Perhaps a different outcome (if I had really tried)
Blundering,ponderous passage through the awkward years
Precious days eroding to the march of silent books
No mother,no brother,no other as companions on the way
No wonder my obsession with your winsome Kerry looks
Half-crazed dreams untold to anyone
Restless wildcat urges to hold you tight
If first love makes the deepest cut I stand uncomplaining
In times of outer darkness still I sense your inner light
