The Love Letter

Contributed by XxNights_ChildxX on Friday, 13th January 2006 @ 11:06:04 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Child hood sweethearts went onto something more,
As the blue cascades of time swept across the shore,
They were as inseparable as the stem from the flower,
He secretly kissed her underneath the castle towers.

Their love was forbidden, but they refused,
To set aside their passions, their emotions abused,
To disobey their parents, put pressure on how one lives,
Being held apart made them feel like they were captives.

One night she wrote him a letter describing all her love,
As she watched the birds all fly across the sky, up above,
She smiled and laughed remembering all they’d been through,
Their love would never be broken because their love was true.

But the sun darkened to blood red that evening,
And she had an odd suspicion as she was gazing,
The wind blew harshly, and she finally turned to go,
Should have gone to see lover, but she didn’t even know,

When she returned home, her parents stood at the door,
With sinking feeling in her stomach now, stronger than before,
They looked at her sadly and said that her love had just died,
She was stunned in a state of silence, and her eyes began to cry.

Her world was turned upside-down in the matter of an instant,
And everyone tried to console her but she just seemed so distant,
Nothing was worth living for anymore, she lost the only thing that mattered,
Her life was useless, loveless, broken, and way beyond shattered.

When he was alive, she always asked him if he’d leave her,
He smiled and kissed her, then he always replied “never”,
Death broke his promises, and nothing could get any better,
So she stood at the cliff, then cast into the sea, her final love letter.
