Red, black, yellow, or grey-
Which color shall it be today?
A poet's hand, so hard at work-
Painting pictures with only words.
Shading now, with emotions-
Dark, light, grey, in bettween.
The poet's brow, curved like his pens-
A truth not often seen.
Feel the rhythm,
Feel his pulse.
A secret lies
Within the lines.
His heart does race
At this pace.
As he shall close
This short prose,
He must pause
For self applause.

It's a beautiful piece...but towards the end, the rhyming felt really forced and the whole tone of it changed-from lax and revealing to an old fashioned narrative. Sometimes, it's better to just let the words fall naturally... |
