My Child

Contributed by fortywife on Wednesday, 11th January 2006 @ 04:01:48 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

I don't know where I'm going
I shut out where I'm from
the only thing I'm sure of
Is how far I've come
I fell down on my knees
And stayed there for awhile
And drowned myself in tears
followed by denial
I put one foot back on the ground
still I couldn't stand
So I looked to you for help
and asked you for your hand
you pulled me up onto my feet
And wiped away my tears
you said "Listen my child, accept
what I say and you shall live for many years.
Do NOT set foot on the path of the wicked
or walk in the way of evil men."
Still my eyes remained blurry and I turned
in a hurry, only to stumble again.
You said, "My child, trust me with your heart and
lean not on your own understanding.
I will show you the way with your faith and your love
it does not require you're planning."
So I cried to my Lord, "Please don't leave me
I need you to help me stand.
I do not want to fall back on my knees,
I need you to hold my hand."
You turned to me and said, "My Child,
When you fall to you're knees just pray.
And trust that I am listening, and to stand;
You'll find a way.

This is a very nice write about desperation which inspired a wonderful dedication. Very nice indeed.

Thank you for sharing.

Take care,

Tim

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
