What if
I can make the pain disappear
What then
If I whispered the words you hoped to hear
Love songs sweetly spoke in your ear
Im not helping
Am I
Only making it worse
I don’t provide you with comfort
Do I
Will I
Ever be able to hold
You in my arms
Can I
Do I make you run
This cant be conducive
Can it
Least restrictive
Most inflicted
A conflict of interest
A lapse of commitment
Im talking to myself
Arent I
No ears pick up this tone
No sensors
Are chilled to the bone
Are they
Or has this been ineffective
Useless
Futile attempts
To witness
A glimpse
Of you
And I
Lament
Am I dreaming
Pinch me
Punch me
Wake me up
Shake me up
Poor buckets of ice water on my guts
Out of this funk
Yard-sale of precious antiques
And I pick out the fresh junk
Duct-tapped and bound
Ive got your heart in a cooler on ice in the trunk
Stop banging back there
Your making the seat jump
Hold on tight
It’s a ten-foot speed-bump
The car-jack and jackknife
Are off limits tonight
Drive-by dinner
Radio spinner
Tuned to classical motifs
The two passengers in the front
Have pulled over-
Its been six hours and they gotta pee
