Topic: goodbyepoetry

I told myself no to fall for you
And that it wouldn't work out
But my heart doesn't always listen to my head
Now I'm searching for a way out

I guess I always knew it'd come to this
Just a part of being me
I'm incapapbe of "settling down"
Unfortunate fact of my reality

And it's my head now saying stick around
Cause I have someone good right here
You always come home to me every night
Many people think I'm foolish for these fears

It's not that I don't love you
Cause believe me when I say I do
And I'm not meaning to break you down
I'm only trying to tell you the truth

I hate that I have to break all those promises
That I once swore to keep
Like that one day when I said
I promise I'll never leave

That's the worst part about this
I really thought you were the one
And you probably really are
But I think that this has to be done

Because you're so sure about us
And I'm having all these doubts
It just wouldn't be fair to you
If you waited for me to figure it out

So I'm not asking you to wait
Cause this decision could be right
Maybe I'll find what I'm looking for
And hopefully some good in our goodbye

I often have trouble trying to figure out whether I should listen to my brain or to me heart. This was a good poem, keep it up!
