What Happened to Forever?

Topic: goodbyepoetry

"I'll love you forever," thats what you said
now look at our love, its broken and dead
what happened to us, where did it go?
we drifted apart, that i do know

you chose the right path, narrow and straight
i took the broad way, full of anger and hate
but is that all it was that tore us apart?
could something like that change whats in out hearts?

In love forever, no matter what
thats what we said, but now we're not.
No longer in love, but i do love you still
but you dont love me, so i'll have to deal

you won't talk to me, won't acknowledge that i exist
and that breaks my heart, 'cause from the first time we kissed
i knew you were the one i could spend my life with
but now i know that was all just a myth.

I should have known that we wouldnt last
it was obvious, with our messed up past
I thought you had changed, but i know better now
you never intended on making those vows

you led me along, made me think your love was true
if i could go back, you know what i'd do?
i'd say no to your request
'cause now i know that would be best

i'd save myself the heartache and give up on you
if only i'd known what you'd put me through
true, it was my fault that we had to part
and you said that i had broken your heart

but how quickly you forgot me and found someone new
had you meant what you said, it'd be harder for you
but you didnt mean a word of it, and i believed it all
and now you're gone, and so, i fall

into a realm of darkness and pain
where empty thoughts fill my brain
and no one but God can hear my screaming
and only He can stop the bleeding

Though i do dwell in darkness, my heart is pure
and i know that Jesus is the only cure
that will alleviate my dire pain
and drive away all the rain.

So, I don't need you anymore
now i can finally close the door
that i've kept open for so long
because my God has made me strong.

I think that I felt a good message being trasmitted... Break ups are hard, but there comes a time when you realize there more to life than one person. Thanks for sharing.

Aq.
