Recognizing the wheels of steel,
Now I know how every DJ in the world must feel.
All the great music wasn't from a big high school band,
Instead, it was all from one talented man.
Imaging a coffin of a pioneer,
Is something I can never think of going near.
Oct. 30, 2002 wasn't just the day I cried,
It felt more like the day Hip-Hop died.
A man so down-to-earth, giving love to the hood,
Now he's gone, but he ain't gone for good.
A hip-hop musician must ascend beyond the sky,
Fallin' in the arms of angels, like Aaliyah and Left Eye.
Now that I think about music in any other way,
I say "God damn! That DJ made my day."

Your poems really good, I'm glad you took the time to remember someone who undoubtedly changed the game forever.I can't help but feel jam didn't get the respect he deserved. But as long as he's got fans like u and me it'll be alright. |
