A Ribbon For Your Thoughts

Contributed by Xnoybis on Monday, 9th January 2006 @ 02:19:30 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Making ribbons
Of all that is given
I just can't seem to fall
Into your structured living

I swear I have tried
To be marginalized
But I just get so sick
On all of your lies

And I swear I

I try to unhear
I try to unsee
But the wasted energy
Just burns into me

And fuels my fire
A light I lit
To find my desire

An endless task
That I can not see
Through your twisted mask

I am aghast
And grasping for breath
In a bottomless flask

But I swear I

I have tried to see
All the great things
You told me about
And tried to show me

Absolutely
Apologetic
And despite the wear
I am energetic

But I'm grasping at straws
Trying to ditch
My mind's eye
That sees every flaw

...yup...good job expressing the angst of trying to be a citizen of two worlds...Pandora's box kind of thing...once you've thought the thought any thought that comes short of the thought just shrivels...at age thirty-two I stopped trying to conform...

I try to unhear
I try to unsee
But the wasted energy
Just burns into me

...these line were particularly alive for me...

A beautiful poem.
