THE OCEAN IS A TEMPERMENTAL WENCH

Contributed by sassydovebird on Sunday, 8th January 2006 @ 07:00:02 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

LONELY SHE ROAMS FROM SHORE TO SHORE,
CALLING HER LOVER,SHE'LL SEE HIM NO MORE.
HE IS GONE,LIKE THE TIDE FROM BEFORE,
LONELY SHE ROAMS FROM SHORE TO SHORE.

ONCE HE WAS HALE,HEARTY AND FREE,
LEAVING HIS HOMELAND JUST TO SEE THEE.
BUT FATE STEPPED IN,TOOK CONTROL.
HE IS LONG GONE,THE SEA CLAIMED HIS SOUL.
ONCE HE WAS HALE,HEARTY AND FREE.

LISTEN TO THE CRIES OF HER VOICE IN THE WAVES,
HEAR HOW SHE MOURNS,SOULS TO SAVE.
HER TRUE LOVE NOW GONE,LEAGUES BELOW,
ROTTING AND WORN,NO CARCASS TO SHOW.
LISTEN TO THE CRIES OF HER VOICE IN THE WAVES.

THE WILD UNTAMED OCEAN,A BEAUTIFUL WENCH
NO MAN TO TAME HER,NO HEART TO ENTRENCH.
FOR MANY HAVE TRIED,AND HAVE GIVEN THEIR LIVES,
LEAVING BEHIND LOVERS,CHILDREN,WIVES.
THE WILD UNTAMED OCEAN,A BEAUTIFUL WENCH.

WHY MUST MEN HEED HER,HEAR HER SWEET CALL,
THEY CANNOT SUCCEED,ONLY LOSE ALL.
LOSE THEIR FAMILIES,LOVERS,AND WIVES.
IS THE THRILL OF A LIFETIME WORTH LOSING THEIR LIVES?
WHY MUST MEN HEED HER,HEAR HER SWEET CALL?

MY HUSBAND WAS A SAILOR,ONE OF THE BRAWNY AND TRUE
TO SAIL ON THE HIGH SEAS WAS HIS THING TO DO.
I WATCHED HIM LEAVE,SAW HIM SET SAIL,
PRAYED TO THE NORSE GOD,GOOD WINDS TO PREVAIL.
MY HUSBAND WA A SAILOR,ONE OF THE BRAWNY AND TRUE.

BUT AS DAYS GREW TO WEEKS,AND WEEKS INTO LONGER,
THE FEELING I'D LOST HIM GREW EVER STRONGER.
ONE NIGHT IN MY DREAMS HE DID APPEAR ,

ALL SWEET,SMILIM,SAYIN "IT'S OK I" HERE".
MY HEART QUIT ITS BEATING,I FELT MY BLOOD GROW COLD.
I KNEW FROM THAT MOMENT HE'D NEVER GROW OLD.
FOR HE'D BEEN CLAIMED BY THE BEAUTIFUL WENCH,ADDED HIS BODY TO HER SEA-MAN'S STENCH.

AS THE WHISTLES BLEW AND THE PIPES PLAYED LOUD
MY TEAR FILLED EYES SURVEYING THE CROWD.
NO ONE WHO WAS HERE HAD'NT A LOSS,
OF A VERY DEAR ONE,EACH HOLDING THE CROSS.
THE PRIEST CHANTED ON ABOUT THEIR SOULS ENTERING HEAVEN,
NOW I'VE GOT THE CHILDREN TO RAISE,THEY NUMBER SEVEN...
