A hybrid lament
Empty corridors, devoid of emotion.
The gun, a lack of intent.
Worthless places, a lack of all hope for
the life worth living,
lament
Your breath lies frozen, shards of life
Your soul, so breathless and pure.
I'm sorry my love, so sorry my love
It didn't turn out right
I'm sure.
I sit alone, in the seat of my car
my hands clutching the wheel.
I imagine you breathing, imagine you calm
your body so cold and so
still.
What did you expect, a lover?
No, that's not what I gave.
I gave you my soul, you became my other
A connection in beauty was
made
my hands, they chill to ice
and my lungs get colder still.
Never forget me, not once in your life
I will always be there
I will.

Grief and sorrow is expressed in many forms. You can live a rich life, become one person instead of two in one. Many are dead before the gun goes off, looking at death, themselves dead, and the ones we love dead too. Death looking at death.. dying relationships, failing ourselves etc. The ending of your poem shows lots of hope. I pray you are well. |
