I tried harder than I ever tried,
I cried harder than I ever cried--
but it's never enough to please you,
it's never enough to appease you.
You hate me and berate me, you cruciate me
upon my failures and then drown me in
the blood and tears you draw. Why??
What was so wrong about me,
what didn't "belong" about me?
What did I do that you never did,
what secrets did I hold that you've never hid?
Was it because looking at me was like seeing yourself
descend your own spiral of addiction,
or did I just remind you too much
of your own crucifixion?
