Was Britain a modern country by the 1700s?
In the beginning of the seventeenth century Britain was going through changes. The first change was how they treated the poor differently, the science medicine, plague and the great fire of London.
Changes in how the poor were treated. In this modern age there would be new laws for the poor including work houses and apprentices. However they still punished the poor by whipping them.
The science and medicine_______ During this period started to not believe in suppressions. They would use science to explain the world example: Galileo discovered the world was round. Thomas Harvey discoverer blood is pumped round by the heart. But They would still believe in suppressions also they relied on God for answers.
The plague was occurred in 1665
They believed the plague came from god, they did not no rats caused disease because they were not well educated so they did not no how to cure this disease.
The Great fire of London which took place in 1666
The Great fire of London led to important changes in the capital. It was a better layout, there was waste disposal and the Saint Paul Brigade started.
