Shadows Among Us

Contributed by Seikjo on Friday, 6th January 2006 @ 03:41:12 PM in AEST
Topic: Tributes

Those things that only dwell in night are surrounding us.

They watch us as we stumble and trip among the roots of the trees around us.

We can’t find the path, the path home; were a nice cup of tea and bed are waiting.

Those creatures that dwell in underground caverns, waiting.

They stick to the places we cannot see with our human eyes; but I feel them there.

We find those creatures; like gypsy’s they circle around a fire; they want to take me away

Those creatures that dwell in the new moon light, waiting for me to come.

They smile and act cheerful; (and indeed they are) their leader; wants me to come.

We travel home with him as our companion; he led us home even though there was no light

Those creatures that dwell in my fears.

They don’t whisk us away to become like them.

We come of our own free will; which was best for me.

Those creatures that we dwell in the night with.

They love me, and I love them now; just it’s sometimes surprising.

We gotten used to the night and the darkness that surrounds us forever.

Those creatures that I dwell with as their queen.

They cheer for me and make me bracelts to wrap around my arms.

We start to grow pale as we spend more and more days in the dark corridors of stone.

Those creatures that I’ve come to understand and say them as my own.

They are my people and I am theirs; though if any wish to harm me I am well protected.

We’ve come so far so soon as they all say; we care for those creatures that we so willingly joined.

Those creatures that I have to save.

They are sleeping; and I have to find a way to wake them.

We have to save them; but I will go on my own, to the now unknown world.

Those creatures that I have to rescue.

They are sleeping for all eternity with no chance to wake.

We are apart; my husband and I; I have to rescue him, so not to be alone.

Those creatures that I have saved.

They extend all gratitude and love toward their Queen that saved them.

We are together; my husband and I; for that I am glad, because I love him.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
