Promise Me
Promise me
that when the trees lay bare in winter
you'll bring the sunshine to my door
that when i'm lonely
you'll sit by me and hold my hands in yours
Promise me
that when cotton candy smells drift from the fair
you'll dance the chicken dance until we both fall, laughing
that when the gulls fly overhead crying piously
you'll wade with me amongst the swirling waves
Promise me
that when the dark of night frightens me at 3am
you'll light the flashlight and make bunnies on the wall
that when the the first clump of dirt fills my final bed
you'll think of me each day and hold my love inside your heart
Promise me

I thought this poem was very inspirational and deep. Certainly something only a well-learned poet could create.

What a sad state of knowledge. What has the majority of the world hanging on to an empty vow? I am astonished at the sincerity of this write. Personally, this concept makes me sick, but this was written well it was solid and it did its job. For an average person this would have inspired feeling and warmth.

Great stuff for the start of the year! The litany-ish way you wrote this was really sweet, it was quite the romantic piece. You ask of very little from your mate as well, which is nice in it's the way that you're just asking for that companionship everybody wants. I'm sure everyone can relate to this poem in one form or another. Great write!! |

Quite well written and very poetic as well
what more can one ask for!? I think I liked the
first stanza the best, but they were all quite
good. Thanks for commenting on my poem
by the way.
