If memories are how we measure time
Then time is but a fallacy it seems
A vanishing away of hopes and dreams
Amidst the faded colors of the mind
And with the grieving and the healing tide
We search for comfort buried deep inside
Then desperately we cling to what we may
And set aside what time has washed away
~
If memories are how we measure time
Then what is time if we remember not
Existence counted only when it’s caught
Then aged and seasoned, perfectly refined
So hidden are those memories of pain
That now are nothing more than just a stain
A hue within a line upon the face
A broken heart now gone without a trace
~
If memories are how we measure time -
If no one should remember who I am
Have I become a grain of sifting sand
When to this world I've said my last goodbye
And does it really matter in the end
Except within this heart I hold within
Of dreams escaped, the longing after all
Is something Father Time will not recall
~
If memories are how we measure time
Then time is but a fallacy it seems
A vanishing away of hopes and dreams
Amidst the faded colors of the mind
And with the grieving and the healing tide
We search for comfort hidden deep inside
Then desperately we cling to what we may
And set aside what time has washed away
