His Eyes

A family of the past
One of the present
Separated by decades of time
His everlasting smile
The cover to a book
Hiding and protecting
The pages contained within
His eyes are the portals
To the words and the stories
His eyes read of compassion and love
For family, friends and life
They explode with richness
From a life set at full throttle
They read of pain and sorrow
For loves taken far too soon
His eyes have shown hopelessness
As the captured dreams escaped
At times filled with anger and despair
Hateful of life’s coldness
Privately the tears flow
Creating pools filled with
bittersweet memories
He speaks of little or no faith
Yet his eyes tell differently
They teach of tolerance and understanding
Reaching out to those unknown
Helping those that may even mean harm
A family of the past
One of the present
Their souls intertwined
Bound together for eternity
By the love of one man

OhSaige, i found this poem very deep and meaningful and rater inspiring. I appreciated the way you were able to portray the image of your father through his eyes and thusforth the experiences you could tell from them.
Take a look at my latest work, 'Don't Worry' by Frankcube. |
